"Across the Western States" - A Fundraising Ride for Cape Cod Council of Churches Homeless Relief Programs 

July 2010

 

What is the Event? Rev. Lawrence Brown will be riding his 250cc motorcycle through 2 mountain ranges and across the Great Plains to the Mississippi. Approximately 2,100 miles. Pledge a penny a mile, a nickel or a dime to support our Council of Churches’ homeless ministries. Who You're Helping:
1) The Council of Churches’ homeless programs rescues men and women from our streets and woods finds them housing and directs them to detox and rehab programs when necessary. We have over 18,000 unemployed on Cape Cod.
2) The Council’s Food Pantry network is a lifeline for hundreds of Cape families.
3) You’ll be supporting a residence for women recently discharged from prison to give them support and guidance for a realistic second chance in life.

                     5th Annual Take a Child to Heart Event

   When: May 23, 2010  6:00 - 9:00p.m.

Where: Cape Cod Cultural Center of Cape Cod, Old Main Street, SouthYarmouth, MA

Tickets: $30.00 per person or $50.00 for couples

Description: Evening of elegant hors d'oeuvres,lively jazz and Silent Auction items to Benefit the Cape & Islands Foster Care Enrichment Fund. All funds raised pay for enriching activities that would otherwise be cost-prohibitive for local foster children!

                          Housing With Love Walk                      July 12  to  July 18

 

                 Walking Together For Housing   From Provincetown To Falmouth 

The Housing With Love Walk is so called because all the participating agencies are providing their services through staffs that are either primarily or exclusively volunteers. Its people of good will reaching out to others in need.

Cape Cod Council of Churches Homeless Ministries: Overnights for Hospitality Case Management Services, Street Outreach Project, and Bridge to Hope mentoring Program will benefit in the 2010 Housing With Love Walk.  Jill Scalise and her team will be walking to raise funds to help her clients move from Overnights into safe,affordable housing.  Proceeds from Tom Naples' team will provide emergency sheltering for homeless individuals who come from the streets and in camps, who are directed into a case managed program.  Linda Bradstreet's team will walk to help women released from jail move into Bayside Cottage or other transitional housing as they are mentored onto a new path free from addictions.
