    • 10 topics or two minutes, whichever comes first. Once you have 10 topics in front of you, see if you can eliminate a few of them (at least 4) because they don’t have much information on them. If each of them has tons of research, get rid of ones that are boring or many people has already done it.
    • Now you have around 6 topics left. Choose three of them that you think your readers would be interested in.
    • Maybe they have something to do with current events, or they have a particular relationship with your area. Whatever the reason, choose 3 of them that you think will keep your audience’s attention
    • Of the 3 that are left, choose the one that is most interesting to you.
  • Now that you have your topic, you need to begin to research. Research from multiple sources and make sure you keep organized notes. Note cards are very helpful and make everything much more organized. As you are researching, be thinking about your thesis sentence.
  • Develop your thesis sentence. This is what you are going to write about and then have to find at least 3 things to substantiate your writing.
  • Create an outline. Include your thesis sentence in the first line of your outline. Then the next three lines will have your supporting evidence for your thesis statement. Then you have the fifth line for your conclusion.

Once you have completed your outline, the hardest part is over. All that is left is writing your rough draft by following your road map or your outline. After that, you can edit the paper and complete your final draft. Your informative essay on climate change will have a good flow and be easily understood if you follow these guidelines.
